Lane County was the first county in Oregon to build covered bridges on a large scale and still counts the largest number of roofed spans in the State. Most of the County's bridges are similar in appearance. There are six of these bridges to view locally in the Cottage Grove area. Be sure to ask for a map when you stop by our office.

Cottage Grove, Oregon is located in the southern Willamette Valley on Interstate 5, just 20 miles south of Eugene. The city is also 135 miles south of Portland, 300 miles south of Seattle and 540 miles north of San Francisco.
Because of its location, Cottage Grove's climate is temperate with an average temperature of 40 degrees F. in January to an average 64 degrees F. in July. Rainfall aveages 46.64 inches a year.
In the last decade, the charm and nearby natural resources have helped make Cottage Grove a very popular place to live. According to census records, the population grew from 7,403 people in 1990 to 8,190 people in 1998, a 10.6 percent increase during those eight years.

| Plenty of picnicking, camping and popular recreation spots abound in the greater Cottage Grove area. Cottage Grove and Dorena Lakes primarily serve as flood control basins for the area but they are also used for water-skiing, boating, swimming, sailboarding and fishing. |
